It’s All About the Soccer!!

Two posts in two days!  I know!  Can’t believe either! 🙂

As I was looking through some old photos the other day, I came across one of my doodlebug playing soccer her first year.  Didn’t know at the time how she’d do or if she would even stick with it.  Here we are 6 years later and she is going strong!  She is one that wants to experience everything, including every sport there is.  However, it always comes back to soccer.  Nothing can interfere with soccer.  My gal has some big goals in this department that I have no doubt she will one day achieve.  So, I thought a stroll down soccer memory lane might be nice.  Hope you enjoy!

Getting Into The Halloween Spirit!!

Howdy! (As we say in Texas)

I hope everyone is ready for Halloween!  We are!!  We moved into our new house a few months ago and I’ve so been looking forward to the holidays.  To kick off the season we did our traditional pumpkin carving then onto pictures!  I had seen a video post by Brooke Snow http://blog.brookesnow.com/2012/10/22/halloween-photos/ (her site is in my blogroll) about doing photos before Halloween.  Don’t know why I hadn’t thought of it before.  What she said made perfect sense.  By doing this the girls had much more fun playing in their costumes and giggling up a storm.  Now come Halloween, I won’t hear, “Can we just go now, mom?” or “I don’t want to take any more pictures!”.  We can head out and they can collect all sorts of Halloween treats!!!!

We will definitely be doing it this way in the future and maybe get even more creative with our background!!  What fun would that be!!

Happy Halloween to all and be safe!!

A Day at the Beach!!

So, I’ve been on a bit of a quest lately to find out my style of photography.  What I’m realizing is I LOVE to capture “real” moments, hence the name Captured Moments by Mel.  It’s been right in front of me the whole time.  So as I was doing what another photographer, Brooke Snow, suggested, I went looking back through my photos.  These beach photos jumped out at me.  We went the weekend before school started (this was the first and only time all summer).  I asked myself what it was I liked most about these.  I had captured the girls enjoying themselves at the beach.  “Real” moments with genuine emotion.

Some of these I used both actions and textures, and some I used only actions.  I’ll list where both came from at the bottom of this post.

Textures and actions were used on the ones above.  Textures were from Jessica Drossin Textures.  http://www.jessicadrossintextures.blogspot.com/ and actions from MCP Actions.  (Link below)

Thought this little guy was so cute people watching!!

Thanks everyone for reading and I hope you enjoyed these like we enjoyed our day at the beach!!!

Late Afternoon Fun!

Just wanted to share these photos from a session I had last week.  I’ve known this little gal for quite a few years now.  In the beginning she was very quiet and stuck very close to mom.  Let me tell you during this session, that all has changed!!!  She was so full of life and laughter!!  She even came up with her own ideas of how she thought the session should go.  Soooo cute!!  I definitely had a fantastic time!!  Hope you enjoy her smiles as much as I did!!

It’s All About the Soccer!!!!

Well, we are in soccer season again.  This year we have bumped up a level.    It involves more practices, longer games, and hopefully the playoffs!!!   My  girl has decided that she is playing soccer from now on, which is fine by  me.  Maybe she’ll get a scholarship to help pay for college.  That would  rock!!  Wait, I’m getting ahead of myself.  I’m not ready to talk about her  and college in the same sentence. She’s only in elementary school for  crying out loud!!  One kid close to college is enough right now!  🙂  Anyway,  I just wanted to share a few shots.

And this is what the sister does during the soccer games!!

Textures! Have You Tried Them?

Hey hey hey!!

So I have a friend that creates these AMAZING textures for photo editing.  On top of that she uses them to create beautiful works of art!   (I’ll list her Facebook info below.)  I finally broke down and bought some.  Thought I’d give it a try so,  I’ve played with them a little.   The realm of creative possibilities with these is endless!!  I thought I’d share a couple of shots that I’ve applied textures to.  One of these was created using a texture from my friend Jessica.

The texture I used in this one was from Jessica’s pack 1.  I can’t remember which one I used.  (That’s something I should better keep up with!)  Check her out at Jessica Drossin Textures on Facebook.  https://www.facebook.com/JessicaDrossinTextures

This texture was one I got from Flickr.  (bFREE textureb from a href=httpwww.flickr.comphotosbeapiercesets72157601574009156NinianLifa)

I look forward to playing with these more and using them to enhance my work!!  Thanks you awesome texture creators!!!

To all of you out there, try using textures yourself and see what happens!!

Until next time!!  Keep on creating!!!
